As a rule of thumb, choose a cloth about 20–30 cm wider than your table on every side for a relaxed drop, or 40 cm or more for a formal table.

Tablecloths as a gift

A linen tablecloth is a classic wedding or housewarming gift: it is used at every celebration that follows. If you are unsure of the table size, a square cloth around 160 × 160 cm fits most four-person tables, round or square.

Questions and answers

What size linen tablecloth do I need?
Measure the table and add the drop you want on each side: 20–30 cm for a casual look, 40 cm or more for a formal one. For a 100 × 160 cm table with a 25 cm drop, that is about 150 × 210 cm.
How do I wash handwoven linen?
Follow the care note on each piece. Open, fine weaves such as the Tinita and Transparent lines are hand-washed at up to 30°C and not wrung or tumble-dried; linen is ironed hot, ideally while still slightly damp.
Does linen get softer?
Yes. Linen fibres relax with every wash and use, so a linen tablecloth, napkin or towel feels softer after a few months than on the first day. Studio Natural also softens its cloth by hand before it leaves the studio.
